Yoga at the Library

The library offers free yoga classes for adult patrons of all experience levels. Our yoga classes are instructed by Alyssa LaRue, a 200-HR Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance and graduate of the Siva Yoga Teacher Training by Adrian and Whitney Tartler. Alyssa has been teaching yoga at the library since 2018 and offers a range of classes including hatha, vinyasa, yin, restorative, meditation, and even classes for kids!

All classes are held in the Community Room and do not require registration. We also have a limited number of yoga mats to borrow as well as yoga towels, blocks, and straps.

Library Lounge

The Library Lounge is an opportunity for adult patrons to watch selected movies on the Community Room screen for free with no registration required. Every Library Lounge offers refreshments, mocktails, crafts, coloring pages, and giveaways. Patrons are welcome to bring pillows or blankets to use with the provided seating for extra comfort, and patrons may also bring any personal crafts or to-do list items like sewing, knitting, scrapbooking, coupon cutting, calendar or agenda planning, bullet journaling, or any other materials to work on during the film.

Saturday Crafternoon

For crafty patrons, Saturday Crafternoon is a monthly weekend program with themed craft projects to make at the library. We provide all of the materials in the Frank Fanning Room. Registration is required and limited to 16 sign-ups. Check the themes and dates below for more info:

Trivia Nights

We love to host trivia nights throughout the year on a variety of topics and themes! Each trivia night is for a team of 2 to 4 adults 18+ and includes refreshments, coloring pages, and a chance to win prizes. Our trivia nights follow a bar-style format where everyone gets a chance to answer questions using their team's table white board.

All trivia nights require registration through our Google Form. Click the image below to register for Ultimate Trivia Night happening on Friday, January 24 at 6:30 p.m.

Registration Events Policy

For registered library events for adults, the library utilizes a No-Show Policy to ensure that waitlisted patrons have an opportunity to attend an event. The policy is below:

In the event that an adult patron cannot attend a registered event, that patron is required to provide cancellation notice via email or phone, preferably at least 24 hours prior to the day of the event. If a cancellation notice is not given at the time of the event, that patron is considered a "no-show." If the registered patron is a no-show to three registered library events, said patron will not be permitted to register for or attend any events requiring registration for a period of six months.

Local Author Meet and Greets

We love supporting local authors by hosting Meet and Greets where authors can promote and sell their books. Take a look at these books available for checkout from authors we've hosted at the library!

If you are a local author and would like to schedule a Meet and Greet event, please contact Alyssa LaRue at alyssa@derbylibrary.com
