Summer 2020 Teen Programs
The deadline to complete the summer reading program and pick up prizes has been extended to 6 p.m. Aug. 31!
Thought you missed the chance to participate in summer reading this year? Well, you haven't! Because we've extended the deadline to complete the program, you still have time to register and complete summer reading. Download the Beanstack app or go to the Benstack website and create an account (if you haven't yet), the join the summer reading challenge for teens. And remember, reading you've done since summer reading started May 26 still counts!
Once you've completed the summer reading challenge, you can pick up your prize at the library and you'll be entered in the drawing to win the grand prize.
Enroll in the summer reading program on Beanstack! Teens who read for 12 hours will win a collection of prizes and be entered into a drawing for a grand prize!
Mythical Moviecraft Online Course
Do you have a story to tell?
Writers, actors, and amateur filmmakers are welcome to enroll is this exclusive online version of the library's popular moviecraft program! Teens will collaborate with the teen librarian via email and Zoom chat to develop their own 1-5 minute short film. Each teen will have the chance to create their own film project inspired by a mythical theme and work with their fellow crew members on writing, performing, and filming.
This online course is limited to 20 students. Filmmakers should be willing to dedicate time to answering emails from the team, participating in Zoom meetings (or in-person meetings if able), and working with others to create their story.
Every week, teens will be able to pick up a themed craft at the library drive-thru or Youth Services Desk. Tune in on Tuesdays at 4pm on Facebook Live for a demonstration of the craft, a book talk, and access to trivia games and prizes!

Murder of the Monster Slayer: An Online Murder Mystery
Join this month-long journey into the world of monster slayers! Teens become epic monster slayers and attend the annual Slayer Summer Celebration. Yet tragedy strikes when a monster slayer is murdered not by an infamous creature, but by a slayer turned rogue. Inspired by the Witcher series and featuring monsters of mythology, this murder mystery will deliver clues right to your email so you can solve the crime
This murder mystery will be held throughout the month of June 2020
Once Upon a Writer Writing Challenge
Teens will write an original 5,000 word short story with challenges inspired by famous fairytales. Writers act as royal bards traveling through the Land of Fairytales on their way to the Enchanted Castle. They will face the Big Bad Wolf, Fairy Godmother, and other surprises as they compose their story. Finishers will win a prize and be entered to win a year’s subscription to Scribbler, a monthly box for writers.
The challenge begins May 26th and ends July 26th
